Colonel Ledyard Park

Sawmill Park

This park is  under the jurisdiction of the Historic District and Parks and Recreation Commissions.  The Park and Recreation Commission is responsible for half of the pond and the back and front areas.  the back area is scheduled for picnics and weddings.  The pond is not used due to insufficient water supply which led to the curtailment of all swimming activities in the mid-1970's.  For a map, click here sawmillpark.htm

 Walking Trails 
 
Burton Property - 1/2 mile of rough trails connecting to the Pike-Marshall Preservebelonging to the Nature Conservancy.
  

Nathan Lester Park - 100+ acres surround the Nathan Lester House.  The land is level and wooded, containing wetlands, laurel and abundant natural beauty.

White-Hall Park & Forest - 38 acres consisting of rocky uplands, fields, and two ponds, as well as open field areas.  All trails are about 3/4 mile in length and are marked.

Glacier Park - Near the junction of Vinegar Hill Road and Whalehead Road.  Twenty-one and a half acres containing Ledyard's unique glacial remains.  Main trail is about 3/4 mile and takes you down into the the rocky ravine.  Alternate trail is about 3/4 mile as well and follows the edge of the boulder moraine.
